This piece is made entirely from yarn ends, the nearly empty cones often left behind at the close of a project. I love them for the memories they hold, each one an archive of colours I’ve worked with before.
The blanket is guided only by intuition: I gather the shades I’m drawn to, stop the machine, and tie in a new cone by hand. Some of these pieces carry more than 120 colour changes. They cannot be repeated, even if I tried.
Front and back are never the same, the result of so many yarns interlacing. The edges are finished by hand, and the CURIO label is embroidered with Australian cotton in Central Victoria.
Made slowly, made once, made to be lived with.
