MOSS & CABLES CONCRETE MOON
- Description

- Sizing
Knitted in moss stitch, linked ribs, and an in-house cable that twists through the surface like old ropes. These structures are not just decorative: moss gives cushioned density, while cables build the fabric both visually and physically, adding substance and a natural, grounding weight.
Cables are often said to symbolise fishermen’s ropes, diamonds a hopeful harvest. Those stories were dreamt up by a clever textile historian in the 1930s, but the stitches themselves have always been about function, warmth, durability, structure. They were passed hand to hand, evolving over time for a reason.
Like anything added to Curio, this piece was sampled and developed slowly by hand. I worked through more than twenty structures in countless yarn combinations before stopping here. Eight ends of extraordinary Australian Merino. How lucky I am to work with the best local ingredients. The weight, the density, the way it sits against the skin… I’ve never made or seen anything quite like it.
