In Latin, opera literally translates to “work”, “effort” or “labour”.
A 1-of-1 piece where colour gathers in shifting stripes. Made from hundreds of small cones of yarn, with more than 220 colour changes tied throughout the knitting process. The work builds as a painting might, stroke by stroke, yarn by yarn.
The stripes follow no set order. Colours meet lawlessly, overlapping and drifting into one another to form unexpected relationships across the surface. What might have been waste becomes a new material language. The piece feels almost surreal, offering warmth and comfort while remaining endlessly visually stimulating.
I simply love making these pieces. They are so special to me because they can never, ever be repeated.
